Healing as Connection, Not Achievement
There’s a subtle pressure in the modern healing world that no one really talks about - and that’s our quiet obsession with results.
Yes, hello my fellow A-Type, Perfectionist, OverAchievers!!
We track our growth the way we track our to-do lists: always with fewer symptoms, fewer triggers, more productivity, more calm as the goal.
Progress becomes something we can tally, evaluate and measure on an app or a spreadsheet or the scales.
PSA though … Your nervous system doesn’t work in metrics - it works in safety.
I’ve come to learn (the hard way) that real healing isn’t linear, and it certainly doesn’t unfold on a schedule. (Annoying I know). Unfortunately it’s not a neat progression from “dysregulated” to “regulated,” or a steady march toward better, stronger, calmer. That would be far too straightforward LOL.
Healing, instead, can be noticed in the moment you stay with yourself - even just a little longer - while something inside you shifts. Maybe you soften into presence when you’d normally tighten, or you choose to take a deep breath before your body races ahead without you.
This is body intelligence: and its the quiet, wise language of sensation, rhythm, and truth that lives beneath the mind’s plans.
And guess what. It’s not interested in whether you’re hitting milestones.
It’s interested in whether you’re connected.
When you stop chasing outcomes and start tending to regulation, something gentle opens and everything clicks into place. You begin to listen to your body instead of managing it, and you learn to follow the small signals that say “this feels safe” or “this is too much right now”.
And then, you realise those signals were never meant to be obstacles; they were always gentle nudges or invitations.
You start noticing what brings you back to center, instead of trying to control what pulls you off it.
ou stop striving for transformation and start creating the conditions where transformation can naturally happen.
Because healing was never about becoming a different version of you. It’s about becoming a truer more authentic one. Who loves herself for that.
