Body Intelligence - The Inner Wisdom We’ve Been Outsourcing

In a world that moves fast, demands much, and distracts easily we've become experts at outsourcing haven’t we?! Sometimes helpful, but other times it meant we’ve abandoned ourselves.

Examples:

  • We follow complicated morning routines we see in TikTok that leave us more stressed than supported.

  • We rely on packaged meals labeled “healthy,”

  • And we follow the crowd and choose one-size-fits-all movement or somatic tools that don’t account for our actual lives or situations.

We’ve become so used to looking outside ourselves for answers that we’ve lost touch with the most important source of wisdom we have: our own bodies.

This is where body intelligence comes in. And no - it’s not something reserved for doctors or wellness gurus or people who’ve studied neuroscience. Body intelligence is available to everyone. It’s not high-tech. It’s not complicated. It’s not out of reach.

It’s about tuning back in.

What is Body Intelligence?

Only one of my favourite topics in the world!

Body intelligence is your ability to notice and respond to the messages your body sends you. It’s your inner compass - guiding you through energy dips, emotional waves, intuitive nudges and physical cues. It’s the deep knowing of what feels safe, what brings you peace, and what energises you from the inside out.

The truth is, we all have this wisdom. But in our noisy, overstimulated world, it often gets buried under layers of to-do lists, notifications, people-pleasing, and productivity hacks.

This is why so many of us feel tired, disconnected, overwhelmed … and why we can’t figure out why!

The Good News?

You can come back home to yourself. You can rebuild trust with your body. You can strengthen your own unique interoception (the ability to sense and interpret your internal state). And you don’t need an app, a techy watch, a diagnosis, or a degree in neuroscience to do it.

You just need to slow down enough to notice.

Some Simple Tools I Share to Help You Reconnect With Your Body

1. White Space Moments

Start by creating small pockets of nothingness. A few minutes with no agenda, no phone, no stimulation. Just you, your breath, and your body.

Maybe it’s sitting with a warm drink and just sipping in silence. Maybe it’s a walk with no podcast. Maybe it’s closing your eyes in the car before going inside. White space creates room for your body’s signals to be heard.

2. Notice Before You React

Before jumping into your next task, decision or snack … pause. Ask: What am I actually feeling right now? What do I need?

This practice builds the muscle of awareness. Over time, you’ll start to notice your patterns. What triggers stress, what brings calm, how you self-soothe, and how you ignore your needs (we all do it!).

3. Move Slowly, On Purpose

It doesn’t have to be a full 90 minute yoga flow or a run. Gentle movement like stretching, swaying, or walking with intention gives your body a chance to speak. It lets you feel what’s tight, what’s tender, what’s tired  - and when you’re ready for more.

Reconnecting with your body isn’t about perfection. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about getting curious. It’s about remembering that your body is always communicating with you - you just have to make space to listen.

And if you’re feeling the pull to explore this more deeply, I’d love to invite you into the Winter Nurture Journey. It’s a guided 3-week experience to cocoon, reflect, and reconnect with your inner wisdom as the world around you slows down.

Inside, we’ll begin the beautiful practice of returning home to ourselves through movement, mindfulness, nourishment, and deep rest. It is going to be LUSH.

If you’re ready to feel more grounded, supported, and in sync with your own rhythm this season - I’d love to have you with us.

Warmly,

Alex x
